Micro-RCTs Explained
Faster, Scalable, Context-Specific Evidence

Micro-RCTs are revolutionising the way we evaluate educational interventions. Unlike traditional research methods, these rapid, educator-led trials produce actionable results in weeks, not years.

Our approach empowers educators to test and refine interventions directly in their settings, ensuring every decision is informed by real-world evidence.

For each trial, WhatWorked provides step-by-step instructions to guide educators through the evaluation process. 3 simple, short videos explain what needs to be done in each step: from assigning students randomly to an intervention and a control group to gathering pre- and post-test results. The WhatWorked online platform analyses results and generates an automated impact report. When more evaluations are run in parallel the results are combined using a cumulative meta-analysis to give an indication of effectiveness overall.
